Often times, yes! I work with a billing company who will help confirm insurance eligibility and take care of billing your plan. There are no guarantees, but generally, I am:
- In-network with most major commercial plans, including BCBS, Anthem, UHC, UMR, Aetna, and Meritain.
- Insurance is billed via MilkGuide Lactation.
- Most plans include lactation in preventive care and cover visits at 100% (not including home visit travel fee).
- Some plans have visit limits.
- Not in network with Cigna or any Medicaid plans.
Do you take my insurance?
We meet in my Sylvan Park office in Nashville or at your home (if you live in my travel radius and you’re within the first 3 weeks postpartum - and, you understand there is a travel fee for home visits.)
Before we meet, you will complete a postpartum intake form about you and baby and your feeding experience so far. You and your baby are both patients - so have your baby with you and ideally, willing to eat! I will bring my infant scale to check baby’s weight, and I will ask you about your goals and current concerns. I’ll help you with feeding at breast, pumping, supplementing with formula - whatever you need, we can make a plan together! The first postpartum visit is usually around 90 minutes long, and follow up visits are usually around 45 to 60 minutes.
What happens during a home or office postpartum visit?
It depends! Usually within the next 3-5 days; sometimes the very next day. In busy times, it may be more than a week. This is one major benefit to establishing care with a prenatal visit! Prenatal families get priority for scheduling newborn visits.
How quickly can you see me after I contact you about scheduling?
I do not usually see patients on the weekend except for rare circumstances. I usually work 3-4 days per week during business hours, typically 9 am to 4 pm.
Do you see patients on weekends?
Not exactly! If we meet for a prenatal visit, I add your estimated due date to my calendar so I know when to expect baby. I'll see you for a home visit within 3-5 days after birth. You can message me any time with updates or questions before/between visits.
Regarding emergent needs: I do my best to see you within the week that you call! While you're waiting for help, feed baby well by whatever means necessary, protect your milk supply with pumping, and call the Breastfeeding Hotline LINK or your hospital lactation team to bridge the gap.
Are you on call for my due date or emergent needs?
