confident parents.

I love helping families solve breastfeeding problems, develop goals that suit their unique needs, and grow into

I am so glad you're here! It's hard to be a person; it's hard to be a parent--goodness! It's also hard to be a baby--let's make it easier by building a great team together so you can parent with compassion and resilience.

Hey! I'm Heather Price, MA, IBCLC
and founder of Pro Parents Prep.

I have had the joy of caring for over 350 families as an IBCLC

I was a high school English teacher in my first career. As they say, “teaching is an art of the heart,” and being a teacher pairs so well with providing clinical lactation care that is people-centered. Every day, I’m teaching families about parenting, breastfeeding, newborn behaviors, and more, and basically writing “lesson plans” by developing individualized care plans for each mother-baby pair. Teaching is a huge part of what I do as a lactation care provider!

Over the past 13 years of my life in the birth-and-babies world I have studied to become certified as a childbirth educator, doula, car seat tech, and IBCLC. I worked as a childbirth educator for 10 years at the Vanderbilt Birth Center and taught and supported over 1,000 new parents in that decade. I began interning with Nashville Birth and Babies to earn clinical hours toward my IBCLC certification in 2019, and now here I am, being my own boss and growing my little Pro Parents Prep family.

The heart of a teacher

My daughter and I, circa 2015

When you hire me to be part of your team, you’re getting someone who has been in your shoes as a new parent. Someone who sees you struggling and meets you where you are. Someone who can guide you through breastfeeding challenges without judgment or expectations. Someone who will help you find your way through the hazy postpartum days to a place where you feel connected, self-assured, and resilient.

The families I care for say they find me to be smart, encouraging, kind, thorough, and reassuring. I hear things like, ”I couldn't have done this without your support" and “You gave me so much confidence in my choices.” You will always get heart-centered care and encouragement, answers to your questions, and detailed follow up plans when you are in my care.

Part of why I became a lactation consultant is because I have always wanted to be an expert at something, ever since I was a kid.
I want to be THE BEST
.
I'm very driven, love to read and learn, and am super curious. Yes, I do have anxiety and ADHD, why do you ask?! I also have personal experience with breastfeeding struggles and successes with both of my children, and am a little further along in parenting than most of the families I support (my 2 kids are a teen and tween), so I have some lived experience to pull from, too.

I breastfed my 2 babies for a total of 3 years. It's one of the things I'm most proud of!

My "why"

Get connected to care

You are a new mom
It's hard and you can do it
I believe in you

A haiku for hard times:

Thank you so much for trusting me with your care and helping me grow as you grow your family!

Through my small business at Pro Parents Prep I provide lactation consultations through the first year of life and beyond, and digital parenting resources like my Working Moms Playbook and home management printables. I also write a Pro Parents Prep blog LINK about lactation consulting, parenting, travel with kids, and home management.

What began as an in-home childbirth education business 13 years ago has expanded to include so much more, based on the needs I see in the families I've worked with.

For parents, by parents

How can I help you?

I love the work I do and feel called to education and lactation as my vocations -
I can’t wait to meet you and help you thrive!

Outside of my work I spend a lot of time at kids’ sports: cross-country, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. So like, a LOT of sports time. My husband and two kids and I love traveling together, playing games, cooking, and hanging out in the backyard. When I’m alone I like to watch mindless reality TV (shout out to Below Deck Med with Captain Sandy and RHOBH). I also enjoy doing hand embroidery, coloring, and working in my garden. I am not a fan of math and I think mushrooms are gross. The fun fact I share when I’m forced to participate in an ice-breaker? I can say the alphabet backwards super fast.
